Face Masks for Texture and Discoloration

Since it’s Sunday I figured I should work on a face mask post – I love relaxing, having a little bath and putting on a good face mask. I’ll get my bath ready with some lovely things from Lush or my aunt actually makes some bath bombs, watch some Youtube and wear my face mask. In the past month I have picked up two new face masks from my Sephora Haul – I have tried both and I have to say that I’m happy with both of them.

Now to begin, I feel like I need to tell you a little bit about my skin. I have combination/oily skin and it’s pretty clear of active acne at the moment. My concern right now is scarring, hyperpigmentation and texture. When I look for a face mask I want it to brighten, smooth and work on discoloration. So when I was in Sephora I was looking for these key words. The first mask I knew that I wanted was a peel-off mask because I also like to work on pores and that satisfying peel when you see gunk come straight off your face. Am I only one who enjoys that?

I first picked up Boscia Sake Bright White Mask because I wanted something to brighten and make my scarring fade. This mask costs $38.00 for 2.8 oz. This is about the price for any high-end mask. I am willing to spend more money on high-end skincare because skin is very important to me. I know this is a lot of money and maybe I can do a post on cheaper alternatives and DIY masks but for right now, these are what I picked up at Sephora. The Boscia mask is super creamy and you just put a thick layer on the skin and wait till it dries. Once dry, you just have to start peeling and your skin instantly has this luminosity. I can’t say yet if it has completely brightened my skin and scarring, but I definitely love the way it feels and makes my skin look like after applying it.

The second mask I picked up was the Origins Original Skin Retexturing mask with Rose Clay. This mask is slightly cheaper for 3.4 oz  and $26.00 – This mask is obviously for texture and exfoliation. I don’t like to use a lot of physical exfoliators because they can be rough on the skin, I more prefer chemical exfoliators. I do use a physical exfoliator once a week or an exfoliating mask because it is good to get all that dead skin and gunk off your skin. This mask was great for that, not too harsh. I have used an Origins moisturizer and not loved it, but I have enjoyed this mask. Now with this mask, I will say that I have noticed a difference in my texture. I definitely think it has to do with a culmination of products, but this one definitely helps and feels great after applying. I can’t recommend either of these products enough!

I definitely want to try that Origins mask! I like exfoliating masks too, but some can be too rough for the face.

    1. Yes me too! And it’s not too rough, but enough to get all that crap off your skin.

This was so helpful for me! I have the exact same skin, combo/oily, and recently I’ve been deciding that I should give face masks a go—this review has definitely encouraged me to give one a try!

    1. It’s so annoying you get rid of the bumps and then there’s still an afterlife – this routine is really starting to help though. Thanks so much!
